ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,280,108, issued on April 22, was assigned to The Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia) and Inovio Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Plymouth Meeting, Panama).

"Vaccines having an antigen and interleukin-21 as an adjuvant" was invented by David B. Weiner (Merion, Pa.) and Matthew P. Morrow (Bala Cynwyd, Pa.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The invention includes a vaccine comprising an antigen and IL-21. The invention also includes methods for increasing an immune response in a subject. The methods may comprise administering the vaccine to the subject in need thereof."
