ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 21 -- United States Patent no. 12,441,988, issued on Oct. 14, was assigned to The Trustees of Columbia University in the City of New York (New York).

"Engineered adult-like human heart tissue" was invented by Gordana Vunjak-Novakovic (New York), Keith Yeager (Springfield, N.J.), Kacey Ronaldson (New York), Stephen Ma (Layton, Utah) and Timothy Chen (New York).
