ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 18 -- United States Patent no. 12,325,678, issued on June 10, was assigned to THE RESEARCH FOUNDATION FOR THE STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK (Albany, N.Y.).

"Anti-fungals compounds targeting the synthesis of fungal sphingolipids" was invented by Iwao Ojima (Port Jefferson, N.Y.), Maurizio Del Poeta (Mount Sinai, N.Y.), Cristina Lazzarini (East Setauket, N.Y.), Krupanandan Haranahalli (Setauket, N.Y.) and Yi Sun (Mount Sinai, N.Y.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention provides a compound having the structure:and use of the compound for inhibiting the growth of or killing."

The patent was filed on Dec. 6, 2023, under Application No. 18/530,774.
