ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 23 -- United States Patent no. 12,421,302, issued on Sept. 23, was assigned to The Regents of the University of California (Oakland, Calif.).
"CAR-t cells and autoimmune diseases" was invented by Jeffrey A. Bluestone (San Francisco) and Caroline Raffin (San Francisco).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-expressing Tregs specifically target an antigen present in the joint of RA patients to induce a localized and effective immunosuppressive response."
The patent was filed on Feb. 11, 2019, under Application No. 16/968,794.
