ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 25 -- United States Patent no. 12,339,246, issued on June 24, was assigned to The Regents of the University of California (Oakland, Calif.).
"Biomimetic leaf wetness sensor and method of manufacture of the same" was invented by Marco Rolandi (Santa Cruz, Calif.) and Brian Nguyen (Santa Cruz, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A biomimetic leaf wetness sensor includes a capacitive sensor and a non-conductive polymer layer disposed over the capacitive sensor. The layer includes a replica molded surface corresponding to a plant leaf."
The patent was filed on May 25, 2023, under Application No. 18/201,886.
