ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,354,232, issued on July 8, was assigned to The Regents of the University of California (Oakland, Calif.).
"Spatiotemporal resolution enhancement of biomedical images" was invented by Albert Hsiao (San Diego) and Evan Masutani (La Jolla, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method for improving resolution of a lower resolution image includes inputting at least one digital image into a convolutional neural network (CNN) comprising one of a SRNet and a UNet to output a two-dimensional image having a higher resolution. In some embodiments, multiple image frames may be processed using a 3D CNN to generate a two-dimensional output image."
