ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,281,100, issued on April 22, was assigned to The Regents of the University of California (Oakland, Calif.).
"Recyclable and reconfigurable high-performance polymer networks and uses thereof" was invented by Brett A. Helms (Oakland, Calif.) and Peter R. Christensen (Berkeley, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention relates to a composition of polymers comprising dynamic covalent diketoenamine bonds. This composition allows the formulation of polymeric materials with a wide range of architectures and properties, and further allows these materials to be recycled using thermal, chemical, or mechanical processes."
