ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,286,631, issued on April 29, was assigned to The Medical College of Wisconsin Inc. (Milwaukee).

"Riboswitch modulated gene therapy for retinal diseases" was invented by Daniel M. Lipinski (Milwaukee) and Chris A. Reid (Milwaukee).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention provides constructs comprising modified riboswitches to regulate expression of a transgene within a subject. Methods of treating a disease, specifically an eye disease, are also contemplated."

The patent was filed on March 6, 2024, under Application No. 18/597,673.
