ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,286,533, issued on April 29, was assigned to The Government of the United States of America, as represented by the Secretary of the Navy (Arlington, Va.).
"Carbon phosphonitride polymer additives" was invented by Albert Epshteyn (College Park, Md.), Matthew Laskoski (Springfield, Va.), Brian Chaloux (Alexandria, Va.) and Tristan Butler (Alexandria, Va.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Carbon phosphonitride (CPN) including tricyanophosphine (P(CN)3), its pre-polymer (CPN-PP), and/or solid CPN(C3N3P) can serve as a useful additive for thermoset resins, resulting in improved thermal and mechanical properties."
