ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,251,401, issued on March 18, was assigned to The Florida International University Board of Trustees (Miami).

"Synthesis and antimicrobial uses of dinuclear silver(I) pyrazolates" was invented by Raphael G. Raptis (Miami), Indranil Chakraborty (Miami) and Shambhu Kandel (Miami).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Novel dinuclear silver(I) pyrazolido complexes and methods of synthesizing them are provided. Advantageously, the novel silver(I) pyrazolido complexes have excellent antimicrobial activity and methods of using said complexes to treat bacterial, fungal, and viral infections are also provided."
