ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 31 -- United States Patent no. 12,509,351, issued on Dec. 30, was assigned to The Curators of the University of Missouri (Columbia, Mo.) and Daicel Corp. (Osaka, Japan).

"Disaggregation of nanodiamond particles" was invented by Vadym Mochalin (Tokyo), Atsushi Kume (Tokyo), Yoshihiro Inamoto (Tokyo) and Masumi Hashimoto (Tokyo).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Methods for disaggregating nanodiamond clusters, for example, by using sonication to break apart nanodiamond aggregates in an aqueous slurry having an alkaline pH. Compositions, such as aqueous nanodiamond dispersions and dry particulate compositions can be produced using these methods."
