ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,377,193, issued on Aug. 5, was assigned to The Children's Medical Center Corp. (Boston) and Rhode Island Hospital (Providence, R.I.).
"Indirect method of articular tissue repair" was invented by Martha M. Murray (Sherborn, Mass.) and Braden C. Fleming (East Greenwich, R.I.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Methods and devices for the repair of a torn or injured ligament or tendon are provided. The methods include the use of multiple scaffolds, e.g., beads. The multiple scaffolds may be positioned along a suture or other device such that they are moveable with respect to one another or the injured tissue."
