ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,311,028, issued on May 27, was assigned to The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (Philadelphia).
"Polymer-based macromolecular prodrugs" was invented by Michael Chorny (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.), Ivan Alferiev (Clementon, N.J.) and Garrett M. Brodeur (Wynnewood, Pa.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Provided are macromolecular prodrugs in which camptothecin analogs are covalently bonded to polymers via ester bonds that are labile under physiological conditions. Also provided are methods of treating cancer, especially neuroblastoma with the macromolecular prodrugs."
The patent was filed on April 27, 2023, under Application No. 18/140,289.
