ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 18 -- United States Patent no. 12,473,537, issued on Nov. 18, was assigned to THE BROAD INSTITUTE INC. (Cambridge, Mass.) and THE BRIGHAM AND WOMEN'S HOSPITAL INC. (Boston).

"Three-dimensional cell culture, devices, and use thereof" was invented by Jeffrey Karp (Boston), Amit Choudhary (Boston), Kisuk Yang (Boston), Miseon Lee (Cambridge, Mass.) and Peter Jones (Cambridge, Mass.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "3D cell cultures and devices for 3D cell culture, and methods of use thereof are provided. In some embodiments, the 3D cell culture comprise pancreatic Beta cells and can be generated in multi-well plates, allowing for high throughput assays on the cell culture."
