ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,251,404, issued on March 18, was assigned to The Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior University (Stanford, Calif.).

"Methods and compositions to maintain stem cell quiescence" was invented by Marco Quarta (Palo Alto, Calif.) and Thomas A. Rando (Stanford, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Compositions and methods are provided for induction and maintenance of quiescence of stem cells."
