ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 25 -- United States Patent no. 12,480,478, issued on Nov. 25, was assigned to SIEMENS GAMESA RENEWABLE ENERGY A/S (Brande, Denmark).
"Use of a tuned mass damper in a nacelle for a wind turbine" was invented by Philippe Couturier (Lafayette, Colo.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A nacelle for a wind turbine is provided, whereby the nacelle includes a nacelle support structure inside of the nacelle, to which at least one tuned mass damper is attached, whereby the at least one tuned mass damper is tuned to target at least one mode of motion of the nacelle in a frequency range below 50 Hz."
The patent was filed on Sept. 23, 2021, under Application No. 18/026,141.
