US Patent Issued to ShapeLog, Life Fitness on May 27 for "Weight machine sensor system" (Michigan, Colorado, Minnesota Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,311,220, issued on May 27, was assigned to ShapeLog Inc. (Ann Arbor, Mich.) and Life Fitness LLC (Franklin Park, Ill.).

"Weight machine sensor system" was invented by Jeremy L. Fink (Anoka, Minn.), Nolan Orfield (Ann Arbor, Mich.), Jack Laven (Loveland, Colo.) and Andrew Muth (Ann Arbor, Mich.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A load sensor includes a bolt configured to support a pulley of a weight machine, and a strain gauge laminated onto an exterior surface of a shoulder section of the bolt."

The patent was filed on Nov. 1, 2022, under Application No. 18/051,824.
