ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 20 -- United States Patent no. PP36,893, issued on Aug. 19, was assigned to Regents of the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis).

"Grapevine plant named 'MN 1325'" was invented by Matthew Clark (Hopkins, Minn.), James Luby (St. Paul, Minn.) and Peter Hemstad (Edina, Minn.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The invention is a new and distinct variety of grapevine plant named 'MN 1325' that is characterized by its berries that have a crunchy texture, its berries that have a mild labrusca flavor, its berries that have a thick skin, its berries that are suitable for use in baked goods, similar to a blueberry, and its seedless berries (only seed traces)."
