ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 5 -- United States Patent no. 12,274,995, issued on April 15, was assigned to Regents of the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis).

"Porous nanocomposites" was invented by Abdennour Abbas (Minneapolis), John Brockgreitens (Minneapolis), Snober Ahmed (Minneapolis) and Fatemeh Heidari (St Paul, Minn.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The article includes a porous scaffold structure comprising a plurality of supports. The article further includes a plurality of metallic or non-metallic nanomaterials disposed on at least one of the supports. Each of the plurality of metallic or non-metallic nanomaterials is directly bound to at least one of the supports."
