ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,454,537, issued on Oct. 28, was assigned to Purdue Research Foundation (West Lafayette, Ind.).

"HIV-1 protease inhibitors and uses thereof" was invented by Arun K. Ghosh (West Lafayette, Ind.), Satish Kovela (West Lafayette, Ind.) and Hiroaki Mitsuya (Kumamoto, Japan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Compounds of formula (I) and pharmaceutically acceptable salts and solvates thereof are disclosed. The compounds HIV-1 protease and, as a result, are useful in the treatment of HIV infection."
