ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 10 -- United States Patent no. 12,410,439, issued on Sept. 9, was assigned to Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc. (Johnston, Iowa).

"Reduced stature maize and mads-box transcription factors" was invented by Jeffrey Habben (Urbandale, Iowa), Benjamin P Weers (Polk City, Iowa) and Jingrui Wu (Johnston, Iowa).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The compositions and methods relate to shorter stature corn plants having an increased and extended expression of a MADS-box polypeptide along with one or more genetic modifications that result in shorter stature."

The patent was filed on Dec. 15, 2020, under Application No. 17/757,595.
