ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,447,160, issued on Oct. 21, was assigned to NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY (Evanston, Ill.).

"Topical treatment of wounds with statins and cholesterol for scar reduction" was invented by Thomas A. Mustoe (Evanston, Ill.), Robert D. Galiano (Chicago), Seok Jong Hong (Northbrook, Ill.), Ping Xie (Chicago) and Shengxian Jia (Wilmette, Ill.).
