ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 25 -- United States Patent no. 12,483,330, issued on Nov. 25, was assigned to NATIONAL RESEARCH COUNCIL OF CANADA (Ottawa).

"Full control of polarisation in fibre delivered light for harsh environments" was invented by Louis Gaudreau (Ottawa), Jason Phoenix (Keene, Canada), Sergei Studenikin (Orleans, Canada), Marek Korkusinski (Ottawa), Alex Bogan (Ottawa), Andrew Sachrajda (Ottawa), Robin Williams (Ottawa) and Piotr Zawadzki (Ottawa).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method of transmitting information comprising the steps of: (a) transmitting at least one photon via a fibre; (b) characterizing the fibre by determining at least one depolarization loss caused by the fibre;...
