ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,297,473, issued on May 13, was assigned to NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF ADVANCED INDUSTRIAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (Tokyo) and TOYOBO Co. LTD. (Osaka, Japan).
"Production of monoacyl MEL" was invented by Tomotake Morita (Tsukuba, Japan), Azusa Saika (Tsukuba, Japan), Tokuma Fukuoka (Tsukuba, Japan), Dai Kitamoto (Tsukuba, Japan), Tomohiro Sugahara (Tsuruga, Japan), Shuhei Yamamoto (Osaka, Japan) and Atsushi Sogabe (Osaka, Japan).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Provided is a method for efficiently producing a monoacyl MEL. The method comprises culturing a monoacyl-MEL-producing microorganism in the presence of a surfactant."
