ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,295,917, issued on May 13, was assigned to International Business Machines Corp. (Armonk, N.Y.).
"Drug delivery device having controlled delivery and confirmation" was invented by Noel C. Codella (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.), Jonathan H. Connell II (Cortlandt-Manor, N.Y.), Sharathchandra Pankanti (Darien, Conn.) and Nalini K. Ratha (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A drug delivery device includes a capsule, a logic circuit disposed within the capsule, and an actuator connected to the logic circuit and configured to expose an interior of the capsule to an exterior of the capsule upon activation by the logic circuit."
