ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,360,106, issued on July 15, was assigned to Howard Hughes Medical Institute (Chevy Chase, Md.).

"Photochromic xanthene fluorophores and their utility in live-cell imaging beyond the diffraction limit" was invented by Luke Lavis (Leesburg, Va.) and Fadi M. Jradi (Arlington, Va.).
