ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 10 -- United States Patent no. 12,291,377, issued on May 6, was assigned to Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Ltd. (Auckland, New Zealand).
"Lid construction for breathing apparatus" was invented by Jeremy Livingston Miller (Auckland, New Zealand) and Arjen David Kat (Auckland, New Zealand).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A breathing assistance apparatus has a lid and latch assembly configured for one-handed operation. The apparatus also includes a hinge assembly that separates when over-rotated but that reengages upon closing of the lid onto the main body of the apparatus."
