ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,359,899, issued on July 15, was assigned to Federal Cartridge Co. (Anoka, Minn.).
"Reduced tension cartridge case with two-stage neck" was invented by Bryan P. Peterson (Isanti, Minn.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Devices and methods for reducing tension force on a projectile by a neck of a cartridge case. A two-stage neck has a clearance band an interference band, the clearance band providing a reduced retention force on the projectile relative to the interference band."
The patent was filed on April 11, 2023, under Application No. 18/298,808.
