ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,377,965, issued on Aug. 5, was assigned to Doroni Aerospace Inc. (Coral Springs, Fla.).
"Lifting strut in the shape of a lifting airfoil for aircraft landing gear" was invented by Alasdair MacBean (Linton, Great Britain), William Wood (London), David Gambill (West Chester, Pa.) and Doron Merdinger (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The invention provides a landing gear strut for an aircraft which has the cross-section of an airfoil. The strut is mounted to the fuselage of the aircraft, preferably at a shallow downward angle from the horizontal, and preferably presents a positive angle of attack to the oncoming airflow. ...
