ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,268,671, issued on April 8, was assigned to DOMPE FARMACEUTICI S.P.A. (Milan).

"IL-8 inhibitors for use in the treatment of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy" was invented by Laura Brandolini (L'Aquila, Italy), Pier Adelchi Ruffini (Milan) and Marcello Allegretti (Rome).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention relates to IL-8 inhibitor compounds, preferably dual CXCR1/CXCR2 receptor inhibitors, useful in the treatment and/or prevention of chemotherapy-induced neuropathy, preferably in the treatment and/or prevention of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) or chemotherapy-induced optic neuropathy."
