ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,448,462, issued on Oct. 21, was assigned to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Inc. (Boston).
"Antibodies against MUC1" was invented by Wayne A. Marasco (Wellesley, Mass.), Elizabeth Baez (Ashburn, Va.) and Matthew Chang (Brookline, Mass.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "MUC1 is overexpressed in many cancers, including those of the lung, colon, breast, ovary, and pancreas. Aspects of the invention are directed towards the discovery of monoclonal antibodies and fragments thereof, such as a human single chain variable fragment (scFv), that recognizes human MUC1-SEA."
