ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 10 -- United States Patent no. 12,408,681, issued on Sept. 9, was assigned to Compagnie Gervais Danone (Paris).
"Manufacture of strained fermented dairy products" was invented by Luis De La Cruz (Morristown, N.J.), Casey McCormick (Poughquag, N.Y.), Laurent Marchal (Villemoisson sur Orge, France) and Thierry Saint-Denis (Westfield, N.J.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The invention relates to the manufacture of strained fermented dairy products. The invention allows improvements in the use of the materials and by-products as well as in the properties of the product obtained. A lactic acid bacteria having a low lactose metabolization capacity in acid whey is used."
