ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,359,252, issued on July 15, was assigned to Chronix Biomedical (San Jose, Calif.).

"Colorectal cancer associated circulating nucleic acid biomarkers" was invented by Ekkehard Schutz (Gottingen, Germany), Julia Beck (Gottingen, Germany) and Howard Urnovitz (San Jose, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The invention provides methods and reagents for diagnosing colorectal cancer that are based on the detection of biomarkers in the circulating nucleic acids from a patient to be evaluated."

The patent was filed on June 13, 2018, under Application No. 16/007,795.
