ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 2 -- United States Patent no. 12,263,075, issued on April 1, was assigned to Children's Hospital Medical Center (Cincinnati).
"Self-expandable surgical implant for correcton of congenital diaphragmatic hernia" was invented by Jose Peiro Ibanez (Cincinnati) and Cristobal Abello Munarriz (Barranquilla, Colombia).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A self-expandable double-sided surgical implant including a peripheral pocket receiving an expansion ring. The surgical implant may be used for the correction of congenital diaphragmatic hernias."
The patent was filed on Nov. 20, 2023, under Application No. 18/513,858.
