ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,329,786, issued on June 17, was assigned to CALIFORNIA INSITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (Pasadena, Calif.).
"Regulate gut microbiota to treat neurodegenerative disorders" was invented by Sarkis K. Mazmanian (Porter Ranch, Calif.) and Timothy R. Sampson (Los Angeles).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed herein are methods and compositions that can be used to improve motor deficits and neuroinflammation in subjects in need, for example subjects suffering from neurodegenerative disorders (e.g., Parkinson's disease). Also disclosed are methods and compositions that can be used to diagnose neurodegenerative disorders, such as Parkinson's disease."
