ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,269,158, issued on April 8, was assigned to Board Of Trustees Of The University Of Arkansas (Little Rock, Ark.).

"Soft robotic gripper for berry harvesting" was invented by Yue Chen (Fayetteville, Ark.), Anthony L. Gunderman (Fayetteville, Ark.) and Jeremy A. Collins (Fayetteville, Ark.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A berry harvesting berries system including a mobile platform and a tendon-driven gripper having fingers made of a compliant material, which prevents unwanted damage to the berries."
