ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 5 -- United States Patent no. 12,274,541, issued on April 15, was assigned to Board of Trustees of the University of Alabama, for and on behalf of the University of Alabama in Huntsville (Huntsville, Ala.).

"Systems and methods for monitoring hydration" was invented by Emil Jovanov (Huntsville, Ala.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A smart object may be used to monitor the hydration level of a person. The object has at least two impedance sensors that can be used to sense the complex impedance of a person when a tissue of the user comes into contact with the impedance sensors.
