ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,251,490, issued on March 18, was assigned to BIOMIMETIC INNOVATIONS Ltd. (Ireland).
"Composition of alpha-TCP, silicate and phosphorylated amino acid" was invented by Philip Procter (Divonne les Bains, France), Hakan Engqvist (Uppsala, Sweden), Michael Pujari-Palmer (Uppsala, Sweden) and Gerard Insley (Limerick, Ireland).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention relates to an aqueous composition comprising an aqueous solution, Alpha-TCP, a silicate compound and a phosphorylated amino acid. The composition has improved mechanical strength and is easily applied and may be used as a tissue adhesive, implant or a filler."
