ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,268,720, issued on April 8, was assigned to Armata Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Marina del Rey, Calif.).

"Bacteriophage for treatment and prevention of E. coli and B. fragilis infections" was invented by Sandra P. Morales (Sydney) and Igor P. Bilinsky (San Diego).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention relates to a bacteriophage composition comprising one or more (suitably two or more, or three) bacteriophages that target oncogenic (tumorigenic) bacteria, and use of the same for treating or preventing cancer."

The patent was filed on Feb. 7, 2019, under Application No. 16/968,132.
