ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 20 -- United States Patent no. 12,390,934, issued on Aug. 19, was assigned to Arizona Board of Regents on Behalf of Arizona State University (Tempe, Ariz.).

"Systems and methods for robotic sensing, repair and inspection" was invented by Hamidreza Marvi (Tempe, Ariz.), Ehsan Dehghan-Niri (Las Cruces, N.M.) and Mahdi Ilami (Tempe, Ariz.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Various embodiments of a bio-inspired robot operable for detecting crack and corrosion defects in tubular structures are disclosed herein."

The patent was filed on Nov. 15, 2022, under Application No. 18/055,712.
