ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 20 -- United States Patent no. PP36,896, issued on Aug. 19, was assigned to Altman Specialty Plants llc (Vista, Calif.).

"Hibiscus plant named 'ALTodired'" was invented by Peter Lim (Escondido, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and distinct cultivar of Hibiscus plant named 'ALTodired' is disclosed, characterized by hot pink flowers with a small red center and a thin creamy yellow picotee. Plants are bushy and compact reaching about 3 feet tall. Flowers diameter is around 15 cm. The new variety is a Hibiscus, typically produced as an ornamental plant."

The patent was filed on Jan. 15, 2025, under Application No. 19/022,344.
