ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,279,908, issued on April 22.
"Labor garment facilitating administration of an epidural and maintaining monitoring transducers in place" was invented by A. NIsar Akbar (Mequon, Wis.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The disclosure concerns a stretchable garment adapted to be worn by a woman in labor to hold one or more monitoring transducers in place during the course of labor and delivery. It comprises a fabric body that encircles the torso of the woman including her belly and has an aperture which allows access to between L2 and S1 of her lumbar spine."
The patent was filed on Nov. 28, 2021, under Application No. 17/456,640.
