Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10), a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, and U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) reintroduced the Social Security Caregiver Credit Act which would provide up to five years of credits credit for caregivers who spend at least 80 hours per month providing care to a dependent relative. By allowing caregivers to earn Social Security Credits while they are out of the workforce, this legislation recognizes the essential value of caregiving and helps protect Americans' long-term financial security.
