NATIONAL PARK SERVICE ISSUES NOTICE: NOTICE OF INTENDED REPATRIATION: OLD DARTMOUTH HISTORICAL SOCIETY, D.B.A. NEW BEDFORD WHALING MUSEUM, NEW BEDFORD, MA

WASHINGTON, July 28 -- National Park Service has issued a notice called: Notice of Intended Repatriation: Old Dartmouth Historical Society, d.b.a. New Bedford Whaling Museum, New Bedford, MA.

The notice was published in the Federal Register on July 28 by Melanie O'Brien, Manager, National NAGPRA Program.

Summary: In accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), the Old Dartmouth Historical Society, d.b.a. New Bedford Whaling Museum (NBWM) intends to repatriate certain cultural items that meet the definition sacred objects and that have a cultural affiliation with the Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations in this notice.
