WASHINGTON, Dec. 23 -- National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has issued a rule called: Fisheries of the Exclusive Economic Zone Off Alaska; Several Groundfish Species in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands Management Area.

The rule was published in the Federal Register on Dec. 23 by Kelly Denit, Director, Office of Sustainable Fisheries, National Marine Fisheries Service.

Summary: NMFS apportions amounts of the nonspecified reserves to the total allowable catch (TAC) of "other flatfish" and octopuses. This action is necessary to allow the fisheries to continue operating. It is intended to promote the goals and objectives of the fishery management plan for the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands Management (BSAI) management area.
