NATIONAL OCEANIC AND ATMOSPHERIC ADMINISTRATION ISSUES RULE: FISHERIES OF THE EXCLUSIVE ECONOMIC ZONE OFF ALASKA; POLLOCK FISHING IN THE WINTER HERRING SAVINGS AREA OF THE BERING SEA AND ALEUTIAN ISLANDS MANAGEMENT AREA

WASHINGTON, Sept. 26 -- National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has issued a rule called: Fisheries of the Exclusive Economic Zone Off Alaska; Pollock Fishing in the Winter Herring Savings Area of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands Management Area.

The rule was published in the Federal Register on Sept. 26 by Kelly Denit, Director, Office of Sustainable Fisheries, National Marine Fisheries Service.

Summary: NMFS is prohibiting directed fishing for pollock by vessels using trawl gear in the Winter Herring Savings Area of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands management area (BSAI).
