SPRINGFIELD, Ill., March 28 -- The Illinois Courts Office issued the following opinion on Feb. 28:

1. Held: The trial court's determination that it was in the minor's best interest to terminate respondent's parental rights was not against the manifest weight of the evidence.

2. In April 2022, the State filed a petition to terminate the parental rights of respondent Albert R. to his minor child, S.R. (born in 2021). In September 2023, the trial court found respondent was an unfit parent under the Adoption Act (see 750 ILCS 50/1 (West 2022)) and that termination of respondent's parental rights was in S.R.'s best interest.
