Brief Summary: It is known that hip fractures cause significant medical burden, socioeconomic burden and cost. Moreover, mortality and morbidity in the elderly population is dramatic: within 1 year after hip fracture, the mortality rate approaches 20% to 30%; approximately one-third of patients require a higher level of care, and only 30-40% have the potential to fully recover and return to their initial functional state.
