India, Feb. 7 -- According to flight radar, the Cessna 208B Grand Caravan altimeter shows it dropping during the last few minutes of the flight. This last known location was the beginning of search and rescue operations.

The 150-mile long flight had departed Unatakleet village and was headed for Nome. Alaska Air National Guard is searching the frozen tundra and icy seas for the missing aircraft. Initially the Guard began the search with an HC-130 plane and a helicopter, however, bad weather is inhibiting the rescue mission with authorities advising residents not to attempt to help because the weather conditions are so dangerous.
