India "concerned" about Venezuela, "urges dialogue": Jaishankar Luxembourg, Jan 7 (UNI) External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday expressed India's "concern about recent developments in Venezuela," marking New Delhi's first public response to the crisis that unfolded after a US military operation that resulted in the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife.Speaking alongside Luxembourg's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Xavier Bettel, Jaishankar emphasised that India's focus is on the well-being and safety of the Venezuelan people.He called on all parties and stakeholders to pursue dialogue and seek a peaceful resolution to protect civilians."Yes, we are concerned about developments in Venezuela. We would really urge all the parties involved to now sit down and come to a position which is in the interest of the well-being and safety of the people of Venezuela," Jaishankar said, referencing India's long-standing relationship with the South American nation.The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), in a statement, had also expressed "deep concern" over the situation in Venezuela and called for a peaceful resolution through dialogue.Ministry of External Affairs reaffirms support for the Venezuelan people and calls for peaceful dialogue to address the crisis.The ministry also issued an advisory urging Indian nationals to avoid non-essential travel to Venezuela and maintain close contact with the Indian Embassy in Caracas.Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, are currently in US custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, and are facing trial for allegedly being involved in "narco-terrorism." The couple pleaded not guilty on Monday to charges related to drugs and weapons.Meanwhile, President Donald Trump announced that Venezuela's interim authorities will transfer between 30 and 50 million barrels of sanctioned oil to the United States. Trump said the oil would be sold at market price, with proceeds controlled by the U.S. government to benefit both the Venezuelan and American people.In a Truth Social post, Trump directed Energy Secretary Chris Wright to implement the plan immediately, with oil to be loaded onto storage vessels and shipped directly to US ports."This oil will be sold at its market price, and the money will be controlled by me, as President of the United States, to ensure it is used to benefit the people of Venezuela and the United States," Trump wrote.UNI AABलक्जमबर्ग, 07 जनवरी (वार्ता) विदेश मंत्री एस जयशंकर ने वेनेजुएला के हालिया घटनाक्रम पर गहरी चिंता व्यक्त करते हुए कहा है कि भारत का मुख्य ध्यान वेनेजुएला के लोगों के कल्याण और उनकी सुरक्षा पर केंद्रित है। उन्होंने सभी पक्षों और संबंधित हितधारकों से संवाद का रास्ता अपनाने तथा नागरिकों की सुरक्षा के लिए शांतिपूर्ण समाधान खोजने का आह्वान किया।
लक्जमबर्ग के उप प्रधानमंत्री और विदेश मंत्री जेवियर बेटटेल के साथ बातचीत में श्री जयशंकर ने वेनेजुएला के साथ भारत के दीर्घकालिक संबंधों का उल्लेख करते हुए कहा कि वह वेनेजुएला के घटनाक्रम को लेकर वास्तव में चिंतित हैं और वह इसमें शामिल सभी पक्षों से आग्रह करते हैं कि वे एक साथ बैठें और ऐसी स्थिति पर पहुंचें जो वेनेजुएला के लोगों के कल्याण और सुरक्षा के हित में हो।
भारत के विदेश मंत्रालय ने भी एक बयान जारी कर वेनेजुएला की स्थिति पर गहरी चिंता व्यक्त की है और बातचीत के माध्यम से शांतिपूर्ण समाधान की अपील की है। मंत्रालय ने वेनेजुएला के लोगों के प्रति अपना समर्थन दोहराया और संकट के समाधान के लिए शांतिपूर्ण संवाद पर जोर दिया। इसके साथ ही मंत्रालय ने भारतीय नागरिकों के लिए एक यात्रा परामर्श भी जारी किया है, जिसमें उन्हें वेनेजुएला की गैर-जरूरी यात्रा से बचने और काराकस के भारतीय दूतावास से संपर्क बनाए रखने का सुझाव दिया गया है।
उल्लेखनीय है कि वेनेजुएला पर हुयी एक अमेरिकी सैन्य कार्रवाई के बाद राष्ट्रपति निकोलस मादुरो और उनकी पत्नी सिलिया फ्लोरेस न्यूयॉर्क के ब्रुकलिन में मेट्रोपॉलिटन डिटेंशन सेंटर में अमेरिकी हिरासत में हैं। उन पर कथित तौर पर नार्को-टेररिज्म यानी नशीली दवाओं के आतंकवाद में शामिल होने के आरोपों के तहत मुकदमा चलाया जा रहा है। इस दंपति ने सोमवार को नशीले पदार्थों और हथियारों से जुड़े आरोपों में खुद को निर्दोष बताया है।
